Ha ha, a selfie, this is my first one,” Yasuko Furuta, designer and founder of Japanese fashion label Toga, declares when we ask her for one – almost as if it’s an under-the-radar form of image taking.
Yasuko is in London to show Toga’s SS19 offering: Sport, Art, Scrunched. “The collection is inspired by memories that come from items that would universally exist in a grandmother’s house or have been in a family for a long time,” the designer tells us before the show.
“But this universal image is destroyed by holes and slits.
