You give them bunnies they expect a horse,” jokes Markus Lupfer in reference to his highly-anticipated fashion week presentations, which have featured real-life rabbits (AW15), a beach hut complete with purple camper van and surfboards (SS15), and an urban garden that saw flowerbeds sprouting through floor tiles (SS17). “I like experimenting more and more,” says the German-born designer, who ten years ago was a pioneer of the interactive fashion format, a move away from traditional catwalk shows.
This year, the endearingly good-natured Markus, who regularly dresses the likes of Rihanna, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Cara Delevingne and Ellie Bamber (we’ll come back to that), is celebrating the tenth anniversary of his iconic Lip jumper.
