In a spectacular display, more than 1,500 towns, villages and cities across the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, British Overseas Territories and Commonwealth capitals will light beacons to mark the Jubilee, with a principal flame being lit in a special ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
The first community event of the long weekend will begin with town criers reading a proclamation at 2pm on 2 June, followed at sunset by pipers across the globe playing Diu Regnare, a march specially composed by Pipe Major Stuart Liddell for the Jubilee.
Music will resound from the top of the UK’s four highest peaks, along Hadrian’s Wall and even Table Mountain in South Africa, together with several other countries around the world.
