▪ One of my fishing buddies was being bothered by a persistently pestiferous fly. After buzzing repeatedly around his eyes, ears and nose, the bug kept landing just out of reach, as though taunting him to try to catch it. The friend, who will remain nameless for reasons to become obvious, hatched a plan.
“I bet I can get it with the tip of my fishing rod next time it lights,” he said.
He could, and he did.
And in the process, he snapped off the tip of his rod.
