■ The month started out well. We saw a lot of big blues during the first two weeks, but after that the fishing really slowed down. Sixty-six marlin were caught, 30 of which were tagged and released. The marlin and ‘ahi numbers were similar to last year at this time, however, more large marlin were caught. Thirteen marlin weighing well over the 500-lb mark were brought to the scales; that was seven more than last year. Also landed were 37 ‘ahi weighing over 100 lbs and lots and lots of ono (210 were reported).
