We are discussing exclusively the pointing breeds. These are a subset of the sporting dog group recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) and include the following breeds: Brittanys, pointers, German shorthaired pointers, German wirehaired pointers, English setters, Gordon setters, Irish setters, vizslas, Weimaraners and wirehaired pointing griffons.
