BOATERS UNITE!!
At a meeting in Kaneohe on Sept. 6, 2001, a large group of recreational and commercial boaters that use the State DLNR boating facilities (several from neighbor Islands) formed an ad hoc alliance of distinct parties, persons, and organizations for joint action. It was named Ocean Users Coalition of Hawaii (“OUCH”), and its members are the many groups and organizations who use all of the different types of recreational and commercial ocean tourism watercraft and vessels in Hawaii (trailered, moored, sail, motor or manual). This includes all types of fishing, diving, charter, kayaking, beach cats/canoes, family “holo holo”, whale watching, scenic cruises, dinner…
