Saw your story on Marlin magazine and Florida fishermen, and wanted to correct a few items. Now, now, I can see that look on your face like someone just rubbed a turd under your nose. Nah, we’re not frumpy sticklers, brah. If you like to release the fish you catch-—cool. If you want to eat them-that’s way cool, too.
Just wanted to point out that it’s not illegal to eat marlin in Florida if you’re a recreational angler. It’s illegal to sell them commercially to restaurants. Overfishing from commercial longliners has decimated the marlin population off Florida to the point that we don’t see them that often, so many anglers choose to let them go.
