Everybody knows what a sinker is, but very few realize that there are all kinds of different types, each designed for its own purpose. At Nu‘uanu Reservoir, one notes that most, if not all, anglers are using the type that is drop-shaped with an eye for attaching the line.
That particular sinker is fine in salt water, especially on sandy bottoms where it sinks in and stays. At Nu‘uanu Reservoir, you want the exact opposite effect, i.e. a sinker that is easy to throw, yet does not sink into every crevice, hole and crack whenever it is retrieved.
