■ Representatives of several groups in support of public hunting met November 22, 1996, to form the Hawaii Hunters Association (HHA). The purpose: to preserve hunting for our grandchildren.
Representatives from the Pig Hunters of Hawaii, the Wildlife Conservation Association of Hawaii, Big Island Gun Club, Kahuku Gun Club, North Kohala Gun Club, Hawaii Rifle Association, and the National Rifle Association field representative for Hawai’ i, Dave Bundesen, from Sacramento, met in Hilo. Tom Lodge of Kea‘au was elected president of the HHA, Steven Lichter of Kurtistown was chosen as vice president, and David Hughes of Ocean View was elected secretary-treasurer. Max Cooper of O‘ahu was appointed legislative chair.
