Dear Chuck,
In 1986, when my son Tony was 9, we began traveling to Alaska to fish for salmon. Friends helped us get started, and we were quite successful catching three varieties, silvers, sockeyes and pinks, from the banks of the Kasilof or the Kenai rivers.
In 1992, we took two half-day king salmon charters on the Kenai with a professional guide. We did so again in 1993. In part because of our success, we purchased a home on the river near Soldotna; my brother Paul bought a boat, an 18-foot deep vee Klamath, which we have used both on the river and out on Cook Inlet fishing for halibut.
