■ Kawaihoa Point, more commonly known as Portlock, is a special place, not only because it produces its share of O‘ahu’s summer run of ulua, but because it attracts special people. Throughout the years, the “regulars” and even the newcomers have come to treat the area and those who fish there with respect and courtesy. Initially, the love of ulua fishing is the reason anglers are attracted to the point, and soon, by understanding the value of such an area, comes the respect all fishing areas deserve.
