■ A glorious era came to an end Friday, February 8, 1991, when Eleanor M. L. Choy, widow of Capt. Cornelius Choy and owner of the COREENE-C Sportfishing Charters, died at Queens Medical Center in the late morning.
“How could this be?” I asked. I had spoken to Ma, as Eleanor was fondly known, on Thursday evening, February 7, 1991, and she had been fine. “What happened? No! Dear God, no!,” I screamed, “not Ma.”
