■ The Department of Land and Natural Resources announces that the Division of Aquatic Resources has contracted a local survey company, OmniTrak Group, Inc., to interview fishermen at certain public small-boat harbors and launching ramps around O‘ahu for one year. The interviewers will be working at Wai’anae, Ala Wai, Hale’lwa, Keehi Lagoon, Heeia-Kea, Maunaiua Bay, Lanikai, and Kahana Bay on selected weekdays and weekends/holidays from March, 1990, to March 1991 to initiate a new study, the Hawai’i Small-Boat Fishermen Survey.
The objectives of the study are to measure the amount of catch and fishing effort expended, and to identify whether the fishing was done for recreational, commercial, or subsistence purposes.
