■ After kicking off the month of May with an outstanding 41-mahimahi day, Capt. Anonymous struck again on May 2.
Thirty-seven mahimahi swayed in the shadow of a 4261b Pacific blue marlin as the crew of the KONO finished hanging up their catch. A 12/0 hook was still embedded in the fish from a previous ill-fated attempt to bring in this big one. Angler Dan Thompson from Winooski, Vermont, said he’d like to believe he was a little bit more skillful than the last unknown angler but, if the truth were known, he was probably just a heck of a lot luckier!
Gary Demers, also of Winooski, and Keith Avery of Jackson, Michigan, shared the “reel” excitement of bringing in most of the remaining mahimahi catch.
