Well, I always thought April was big Ahi month, but they seem a little late this year around Honolulu. I remember lots of big Ahi around the boats on Kauai during the three years I lived there. Boy, was it exciting to go down to Nawiliwili Harbor and watch David and John on the 55’ Kamanu, and the other boats, unload those 200-lb. plus monsters daily, and frequently a multiple catch, too, in addition to some mahi or aku.
However, this month, the mahi pulled incredible action so far in Honolulu with marlin strikes and hookups running a reasonable second.
