The Division of Fish and Game, Department of Land and Natural Resources announces that all legal size fish taken or killed with a spear may now be sold by licensed commercial fishermen, fish dealers, and fish retailers—markets and restaurants.
The sale of speared fish shall be legal for a period of five years, ending December 31, 1983, after which only-speared u’u, uhu and kumu may be sold.
The Division cautions that the minimum size of fishes that may be offered for sale are: 1) aholehole or manini not less than five inches in length; 2) mullet, moi, weke, moana or kumu not less than seven inches in length; 3) awa, oio, kala, or opelu kala not less than nine inches in length; and 4) opakapaka, ulaula, uku, ulua or papio,…
