This month’s look will be guided towards the fuel system. That is tank, vents, hoses, remote fill gauges, fuel lines, electrical pumps, and groundings.
Fuel tanks should be mounted in ventilated, dry places. They should be well secured to avoid any shifting or movement. If possible they should be mounted from mid-ship back so as to lessen the shock force due to successive wave action on stormy days.
All components in the fuel system should be of the best quality so as to provide maximum protection against fuel leakage. Any section of fuel line not secured firmly to the boat should be flexible such as rubber reinforced tubing. Copper tubing, especially at the flaired ends, should be checked regularly for cracks due to stress from vibration or over tightening. Fuel…
