■ I must confess I was somewhat surprised to hear Chuck Johnston say, “Deal, we want you to write a column for Hawaii Fishing News on ‘blue water fishing’ in Hawaii.” Why me? When I think of all the outstanding “blue water” fishermen in our islands, both amateur and professional, who know so much more about fishing than I could ever hope to know and who prove it every trip they take by their bulging iceboxes and the many fish flags fluttering from their outriggers, I am further mystified. Why not Charley Spinney, Tioni Judd, Bobby Brown, George Parker, or Rope Nelson from Kailua, Kona?
