In sync with the unique concept of a living open-air museum doubling as a wedding venue for the culturally-inclined, DakshinaChitra sums up the flair of Southern celebrations. Overlooking the Bay of Bengal, DakshinaChitra Heritage Museum is located at Muttukadu, on the East Coast Road to Mamallapuram, Tamil Nadu. The museum showcases cross-cultural references drawing from the art and architecture, traditions, lifestyles, crafts, and performing arts that are native to the four Southern states of India: Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. DakshinaChitra has a collection of 18 authentic historical houses featuring contextual exhibitions in each house.
