It really began in A/W 14-15, when we saw that multicultural melding of pattern, print and embellishment with a very nomadic spirit that just charged right into the resort collections and beyond. IN OCTOBER THIS YEAR, Salvatore Ferragamo flew out one of its artisans, Juri Cavallini, to launch the brand’s custom-made-shoe concept in Australia. HOT-BUTTON ISSUE I arrived for our weekly coffee ritual with last month’s Harper’s BAZAAR tucked under my arm, and my besties were instantly galvanised. One wanted to read it before I did (a certified sin), another wanted to bin it (including the great ModelCo free gift) and we ended up leafing through it, with strong opinions flying on feminism and beauty, our apparently vulnerable self-esteem and the relationship between beauty and money. Unknown women from other tables even threw their opinions into the ring.
