I remember the first time I walked into a building and wandered in to find my seat with this music streaming into the theater and hallway. I didn’t grow up listening to this Gospel music. My first real experience with it was in my teens, as my pastor and his wife took our family to a “singing.” His only request was this, “I want you to hear something and see what you think.” That was all I had to go by before walking into that theater. Every room was like a giant surprise, filled with intricate details and beauty. One room in particular really took my breath away. It was the main dining hall with a grand fireplace, towering ceilings, the longest table I’ve ever seen, and a wall lined with beautiful, original tapestries from the 1500s. Being a history buff at heart, seeing those tapestries from the renaissance era was simply spectacular! Tapestries date back all the way to ancient Egypt, and have been used to share history through art.
