» For women with bowel symptoms, avoiding high FODMAP foods can reduce the symptoms. An umbrella term for a certain group of carbohydrates that some people find difficult to digest, foods high in FODMAPs include standard flour, wheat, pasta, breads, cakes, standard milk, processed meats and some vegetables including garlic, onions and beans.
» Other feedback from women with the disease has shown that fizzy drinks, highly spiced meals, foods high in animal fat, and certain additives and preservatives – especially sulphites – can also make symptoms worse.
