Christmas-flowering houseplants brighten up the darkest time of the year, but fluctuating temperatures, central heating and low light levels this month create less than ideal conditions for these plants to thrive. However, with the right care these seasonal stunners will last well into the new year, and some can have a life beyond the festive period, either in the garden or as permanent residents alongside your other houseplants. It’s a good idea to take a blanket, some bubblewrap or something similar to wrap plants in when you’re transporting them from the shop to home, to protect them from the change in temperature.
