In 2009, Jean-François Rial, CEO of French travel company Voyageurs du Monde, heard a rumour that a home, originally built for one of the world’s most iconic political figures of the 20th century, Mahatma Gandhi, was going on sale in South Africa’s largest city.
A few weeks later, the property was his and, with an international team of artists, designers, historians and thinkers, he spent the next two years visualising, stripping back and reclaiming a piece of history.
