I both loved and hated working at the VA hospital. Government bureaucracy is the same everywhere, and the VA has its share of annoying little rules. However, there were some things they were exceptionally good at. For instance, the VA was a great place to die. That’s not hyperbole. When the time comes dying can be done well or it can be done poorly. At a certain point the goal is death with dignity rather than the further preservation of life. The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) is working with American manufacturers of firearms, ammunition and other equipment to assist the Ukrainian military, citizens, and foreign volunteers as they fight the Russian invasion. The NSSF, the trade association for the U.S. firearms industry, released guidelines on how manufacturers can assist the Ukrainian effort by providing materials in the form of donations. Despite what my ex-wife might tell you, I don’t think I know everything. And one of the great things about the so-called job of “gunwriter” is educating myself about a topic prior to informing readers. A Florida sheriff who recently voiced his support for homeowners shooting and killing home intruders to save the county some money might not be giving the best advice for all such situations. Speaking to the media after a home-defense episode in which an armed homeowner fired several shots at an intruder, who turned out to be a many-time repeat offender, Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob Johnson insinuated that with proper training the homeowner might not have missed and saved his officers some trouble. On March 27, the Gainesville Police Department responded to a call of a physical altercation around 2:00am. Adam Benjamin Cameron of Ocala and his girlfriend were walking with some friends when they were accosted and physically attacked by Antwan Jerome Downs who was with another group. Downs allegedly struck his girlfriend in the face and pushed her to the ground, after which Cameron was also hit in the face with a closed fist. Going into 2022, 21 states had passed constitutional carry laws and many pro-gun advocates had hoped for three more to pass “permitless” carry measures this spring. Turns out that those in favor of constitutional carry have surpassed that high expectation. As soon as Georgia Gov. A measure that would have bolstered Second Amendment rights for Michigan gun owners during emergencies has been vetoed by the governor. The legislation, Senate Bill 11, which would have required Michigan counties to continue processing concealed carry applications during a state of emergency, was vetoed by Gov.
