So here are the movies we cannot wait to see. Scream Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past. Technology is great, it’s made our lives better (or worse, depends who you ask), but we have seen gadgets and tech come in leaps and bounds over the last decade or so. However, instead of looking forward to the tech of 2022, we thought it would be fun to look back at where tech was 20 years ago, in the year 2002. It sits head and shoulders above the rest in world motorsport, as a unique cocktail of adrenaline, challenge, sacrifice, and endurance. An event where man and machine become one, to face down thousands of kilometers of open terrain for almost two straight weeks. Not just that, but it takes more than just courage to attempt the Dakar. Physical and mental preparation at elite levels matched with a solid machine (two-wheels or four), along with an equally experienced crew, are a prerequisite. Then maybe a sprinkling of luck. INSIDE THE 2022 DAKAR This year marks the 44th ‘edition’ of the legendary event - a term…
Twitter @ianjkirke If my own experiences are anything to go by funerals are usually pretty sombre occasions. I suspect the only exceptions to this general rule are when genocidal maniacs such as Hitler, Genghis Khan, and Pol Pot kick the bucket. Culture shapes what rituals are followed and how mourners should behave, with religion very often presiding over the occasion. Not with death itself, but the manner in which the subsequent ceremony is often facilitated. I am not religious, principally due to the fact that I will never grasp why a deity would sanction the death of a child under any circumstances. When I attend a…
