Hello, I’m Amanda Freund. I am a third-generation dairy farmer, and I work with my parents, uncle, brother and sister to run three farm businesses. These include a dairy farm, a farm market and bakery, and a company that makes and sells a product we call CowPots.
My father and uncle developed CowPots—biodegradable pots made with manure—to take advantage of a big byproduct of dairy farming. It began with an idea, a bucket of manure and the toaster oven in the farmhouse kitchen. Today, a few hundred feet from the dairy barn, we have a manufacturing facility that creates plantable pots in 13 sizes. We ship these worldwide. Diversifying our farm business…
