Welcome to our farm in middle Tennessee, near Nashville, where I live with my husband, Brent, and our four children. Our farm is about 43 acres of rolling hills, mostly in hay and pasture. We raise and breed beef cattle, and we also have chickens, sheep and one milk cow. Our children—Emily, 17; Brooke, 13; Melanie, 10; and Ethan, 7—are a huge help here on the farm.
Many people are surprised that neither Brent nor I grew up on a farm. In fact, until 2005, farming wasn’t even something that we considered. We bought a piece of land adjacent to where we’d built our home, mainly to keep neighbors from building right next to us.
