SCREWY POCKET DOOR
My daughter had recently bought a house with her fiancé, and there was a problem with the master bedroom closet. The weight of their clothes was too much for the flimsy shelving, held in place with only hollow wall anchors. No problem for “Handy Dad,” though.
During their honeymoon, I went to work reattaching everything in the closet, being careful to drive screws into the studs of the closet’s back wall. A few days later, my daughter called. The closet was fine, but she couldn’t open a pocket door in the bedroom. Turns out the pocket door shared a wall with the back of the closet, and my screws had gone through the pocket door’s frame. Some shorter screws fixed the problem, but…
