Two ears poke out of the grass,Something twitches down below,Two eyes shine like polished brass,Something hides where the conifers grow.
Claws dig into the red dirt,A shadow swings up from tree to tree,Something pauses, and stays alert,Something’s jaws snap with a menacing glee.
As the day starts to get dark,Lots of these creatures screech happily,They jump from twigs and gnarled bark,While the moon rises lazily.
I wonder what they could possibly be,As they hunt, play and wrestle,Behind their disguise,now I see,They are the famousTasmanian devil.
