Sadly, we lost a giant in the van conversion industry this past February, when Charles Borskey (89), the founder of Sportsmobile, passed away. Most Volkswagen camper conversions were done by Westfalia, with a scattering of other companies trying to get their share of the pie, most notably, ASI Rivera, Dormobile, Sundial – and Sportsmobile. The latter stands alone as the longest continuously operating van conversion company in the United States. Now in its 60th year, Sportsmobile’s quality is unrivaled in the industry.
