My great friend and confidante, teacher, and mentor in all things Life, Bruce Meyers, passed away February 19th, at his home in Valley Center, CA, at age 94, of an incurable blood disease called myelodysplasia, which is much like leukemia.
Most VW folks will know him as the originator of the fiberglass Dune Buggy, the Meyers Manx. However, there was so much more to this man… He was a war hero, accomplished ukulele player, surfer, inventor of the catamaran and fiberglass hot tub, and the quintessential West Coast man. Born on March 12th, 1926 in Los Angeles, he grew up surfing the beaches of Southern California, surfing his local hot spots of Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach.
After graduating from High School, he enrolled and was trained in fine arts…
