Michael Bay, the director who made a name for himself with 1995’s Bad Boys and a string of wildly popular action movies, including Armageddon and the Transformers series, sat this one out – although he has said he’ll produce Bad Boys 4, should it happen.
A pair of relative newcomers, Belgian-Moroccan filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, have made their Hollywood debut directing Bad Boys for Life.
The duo got Hollywood’s attention with gritty, streetwise movies shot in Belgium, and won awards at film festivals for their efforts. “We’d love to do Bad Boys 3,” Adil told Variety a few months before they were hired for the job.
