A while back I visited the dolls house at Glamis Castle, Scotland, and readers will recall that when I came to write a feature which appeared in the May issue, I could find virtually nothing about its history. Well, I have delved into the archives and can now put that right!
After my article was published, a reader, Jan Jones, got in touch with me to say that she had visited the castle many years ago, and Jan then kindly put me in touch with the Glamis Castle Archivist, Ingrid Thomson, who has helped me fill in the gaps.
Glamis was the childhood home of the late Queen Mother, Elizabeth Bowes Lyon, and I was under the impression that the dolls house was her personal plaything. Not so! Ingrid explained…
