Dr Marsh says: There are many benefits of a plant-based diet when it comes to diabetes management and overall health, particularly when you focus on mainly whole and minimally processed plant foods.
However, it’s not just about cutting out animal foods. A plant-based diet should contain a range of foods, including legumes, wholegrains, nuts, seeds, fruits and vegetables.
Balance your plate with:
❱ a wide variety of different coloured vegetables or salads
❱ minimally processed wholegrains
❱ plant protein, including legumes, tofu or tempeh
❱ healthy fats like nuts, seeds, avocado, and extra virgin olive oil, and herbs and spices.
