International Location Systems (ILS) has launched the Roamio Active GPS dash cam, and its end-to-end cloud-based portal, to assist commercial vehicle drivers with on-road incidents. According to the company, the Roamio features Full HD recording, real-time GPS tracking and a built-in backup battery. The dashboard camera operates in moments, storing video files when its integrated advanced shock sensor notices unusual activity. If triggered, the camera automatically saves a Full HD video recording of the previous period of time to the on-board SD card and renames it to avoid being overwritten. Penske Power Systems’ on-highway team will introduce a Euro 4 version of the flagship DD15 engine in 2016 as part of the latest Detroit initiative to both boost engine life and maintain its service to dedicated Series 60 EGR customers. Iveco is now offering clear back of cab (CBOC) variants on its twin steer 8x4 Stralis AD/AT models. Iveco says, in offering the CBOC options, its engineers redesigned the vehicle’s exhaust system to a horizontal orientation, while also adopting a new modular air intake now located between the front steer axles. According to Iveco, repositioning these items also allows easy access to the front of the body should maintenance be required in the case of refrigerated bodies and the like. The world’s first dual control Mercedes-Benz Econic has been introduced in Australia. According to Mercedes-Benz, the addition of a dual control version of the intelligently designed truck, with an additional steering wheel and column fitted to the left-hand side of the cabin, means more choice for Australian waste collection operators. The new dual control Econic has a Euro VI rated engine, electronic stability program and a special low-entry cab design. Lovatt Transport has been presented with the 100,000th Hino truck sold in Australia at Lovatt’s new facility in Botany, NSW. Hino Australia CEO and Chairman Steve Lotter also presented the Sydney-based transport company with a commemorative plaque to mark the milestone event.
