“GHOST workers” have been called out in Parliament, as millions of rands in tax money are being stolen through non-existent mense in government jobs. A CITY of Cape Town law enforcement officer appeared in the Blue Downs Magistrates Court yesterday in connection with a gruesome kidnapping and murder case. Thandile Khesa, 43, appeared composed as he stepped into the dock, where he was formally charged with kidnapping and murder. His arrest on Monday morning followed a multi-disciplinary, intelligence-led operation involving the Hawks, the Provincial Anti-Kidnapping Unit, and Provincial Organised Crime detectives. State prosecutor Litha Duka told the court that Khesa allegedly used a marked City of Cape Town Law Enforcement vehicle to transport the victim from Bellville to the location where he was assaulted. CCTV footage allegedly captured the movement of the official vehicle from Bellville to Khayelitsha. POLICE are probing the fatal shooting of former Stellenbosch Deputy Mayor Nyaniso Jindela, who was gunned down outside a church in Kayamandi on Monday night. According to police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg, the 59-year-old was shot in the neck while standing outside a church on Vineyard Street. Emergency services responded to the scene, but Jindela succumbed to his injuries before medical assistance could be rendered. His death comes just over a month after DA Councillor Xolile Kalipa was gunned on 4 May in Swartz Street in the same area.
