Nazeem Anthony who breeds and farms with horses in Sandvlei near Macassar agrees with White, but says the warning should also be directed to horse owners from poverty- stricken communities, although he concedes that a lack of water and food often force these owners to take their horses out.
However, White says the CHPA offers support, adding: “The association offers absolutely every service that the cart horse owners need to keep their horses healthy so from us there is no excuse for neglect or abuse.”
