A BUS driver was shot and died in hospital, and the vehicle's passengers were robbed during a robbery in Verulam, yesterday morning. The incident occurred while the bus was on Buffelsdraai Road, on the North Coast, according to Reaction Unit South Africa's (Rusa) spokesperson Prem Balram. Rusa raced to the scene after reports of an armed robbery on the bus. Balram said it three suspects, armed with 9mm pistols, boarded the bus and began robbing commuters at gunpoint.
