Durban’s biggest dance extravaganza will be on from Friday, September 13, to Sunday, September 15. The annual spring production will showcase a range of dance styles including ballroom, Latin American, traditional and contemporary ballet. Hollywood actress Lupita Nyong’o’s upcoming podcast, Mind Your Own, which will make its debut this month, will centre around African stories. The Kenyan-Mexican star, pictured, explained on social media that she has been working on the podcast for five years. It will be available to stream on Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and Spotify from September 19. RE: Gateway and NPO showcase. It’s alarming, to be frank, that pretty much all the 20 NPOs are in the same fields. There really is not much diversity at all. Not one NPO from any animal organisation at all. The organisers had an opportunity to showcase a wider range of NPOs and were not limited to the ones they selected. As an example, there were zero animal rescues. We at Fallen Angels Bird Sanctuary and rescue facility work across KZN and SA and are inundated daily with calls to rescue exotic birds from dodgy breeders.
