Before the devastating Zuma/Gupta/Ramaphosa years, Durban, and KZN at large were vibrant and successful. I remember how much cleaner the city was; our beaches were packed and the rikshaw boys were pulling happy tourists and locals along the Promenade.
I remember the North Beach flea market and the curried pineapples, the days when Sharks rugby matches lured thousands of enthusiastic supporters to the stadium and people were braaing on the outer fields, smoke rising into the air and music playing.
Mitchell Park, with its birdlife, reptiles, tall, beautiful trees, monkeys and other creatures used to be a joy and much better looked after. Who can forget the good old Water World adjacent to the now famous Sun Coast Casino?
Remember the fun park at the
beachfront with cable car rides…
