STRAW LONDON, a homeware shop on Columbia Road, is open one day a week: Sunday, to coincide with the famous flower market. You can make an appointment to visit on other days, but, on Sundays, tourists and locals alike, coping under hauls of sunflowers, step through the open door and into what looks like a serene, countryfied home. There are shelves of beeswax candles, egg cups and antique French wine glasses. Terracotta pots of red geraniums sit in the window. A linen-covered table is set with vintage one-offs, such as ironstone platters, sourced by co-owners of the business, Emily Attrill and Hugo MacGregor-Craig, as well as items that they produce themselves, including creamware mugs and rattan vases.
