Peppery intrigue
Biddenden, Gribble Bridge Dornfelder, Kent, England 2020. £12.90, Cork, alc 11%
Light and vibrant with lifted aromas of raspberry, stewed cherries, bitter chocolate, chicory and a leafy tone. Light, fresh and easy to sip, but there's still a lot of flinty, peppery intrigue with black olives and apple skin. Pair with Mediterranean fare.
Full of nuttiness
Mátyás Family Winery, Somlyó Pinot Blanc, Nitrianska, Slovakia 2018. £16.89, Vida Wines & Spirits, alc 13.5%
Cloudy it may be, but it's full of nuttiness, bruised apples sprinkled with thyme and rosemary, orange rind over a spicy, funky palate that's full and grippy. Orange in colour due to barrel fermentation on skins for a few months.
Tangy lemon flavours
Chaffey Bros Wine Co, Funkelpunkt, South Australia, 2018. £17.75–£19.95, Great Wines…
