GET READY TO BE INSPIRED at the Indiana Military Museum in Vincennes, Indiana. Founded in 1984 by Jim R. Osborne, a longtime collector of military artifacts, the museum is committed to the preservation and interpretation of America’s military history.
While visiting, my husband, Tim, and I learned about the American Revolution, the Civil War, the world wars, and the wars in Vietnam and Afghanistan. The museum also includes a display about women in the military, honoring those who served in the world wars. Nurse Edith Shain, the woman believed to be kissing a sailor in Times Square in the iconic V-J Day photograph, donated her nurse’s cap.
