Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary in Topsfield, Massachusetts, is my happy place. I go there on average once a week, to relax and take in all that Mother Nature has to offer. If I didn’t work full time, I would certainly be there more often.
Approximately 12 miles of trails lead to all kinds of scenery. From wetlands to forests, you’re bound to discover something of interest. The area in this photo, which I snapped during spring, is a treasure-trove of wildlife.
When walking along the boardwalk, you’re likely to see ducks, herons, egrets, turtles and beavers on either side of you. There’s another pond ahead where I have spotted minks, turtles, snakes, raccoons, deer and a large variety of birds—hawks, pileated woodpeckers, tree swallows, cedar waxwings, bluebirds and more.
