The day after Thanksgiving, a decorating fairy in possession of a special coloring wand sweeps through the Dreyer household, leaving a technicolor Christmas in her wake. Well, maybe not exactly, but close enough.
“I’ve always loved using colorful décor in our home, and I naturally gravitate toward jewel tones, like cobalt blues, jade greens and coral pinks—and other fun, saturated hues,” says Kate Dreyer, who shares her Fairfax, Virginia, red-brick home with her husband, Brian, and their 7-year-old son, Marshall; 11-year-old daughter, Haley; and 3-year-old labradoodle, Buckley.
“When it comes to holiday décor, I usually use a ‘more is more’ approach, especially because my kids adore colorful Christmas items,” Kate explains.
