Happy times, if we’re honest, even if something that happened at the start of the 1980s could have doomed motorcycling for the youth of the era. You see, previously, you could ride a motorcycle of up to 250cc, but statistics were showing that (as the Government’s advert headlines of the time said) some learner riders weren’t as quick as their bikes… So, from February 1, 1982 in came a maximum capacity of 125cc and no more than 12bhp. A provisional licence would last a maximum of two…
