UK specialist Tolman Engineering is giving new life to some of the most iconic Group B homologation specials, turning rare really weapons into thrilling road cars. After successfully recommissioning a 1200-mile Ford RS200 and a Peugeot 205 T16, the company is now preparing a Renault 5 Turbo 2 for a similar restoration this autumn.
Group B, active between 1982 and 1986, is a fondly remembered period for rallying. Manufacturers including Lancia, Ford, Peugeot, MG, and Citroën built limited runs of 200 road-going versions of their competition cars. Designed for raw speed and performance, some were found to be rather wanting in terms of comfort or reliability.
