There’s a fair bit of Volkswagen Polo coverage in this week’s issue, with the Mk2 appearing on page 20, and the Mk1 celebrated on page 40. It’s fitting, then, that this coincides with the Polo being voted as Best Car of the Half Century ahead of this year’s British Motor Show.
The Polo celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2025, and with 20 million sales over the course of six generations, it’s one of the world’s most successful small cars. The accolade was part of the Best Cars of the Year–The New Car World Championships, which recognise major achievements and milestones in the industry.
